Employers Consider Reducing GLP-1 Weight Loss Drug Coverage
Some employers are considering reducing or eliminating coverage for GLP-1 weight loss drugs next year as usage expands, which may offset some cost benefits from declining prices for therapies like Novo Nordisk's (NVO) Wegovy and Eli Lilly's (LLY) Zepbound, Reuters' Amina Niasse reports. Roughly 10% of employers currently covering GLP-1 weight-loss drugs plan to discontinue that coverage in 2027, according to the Business Group on Health. Cigna (CI) halted coverage of the weight loss treatments for its own employees effective July, Reuters previously reported.
