The UAE General Civil Aviation Authority has transitioned Archer's Midnight aircraft into a Restricted Type Certificate program, advancing the regulatory path for the aircraft's entry into service in the UAE. Archer is the first eVTOL manufacturer to transition to an RTC certification track with the GCAA, utilizing an airworthiness pathway aligned with international aviation frameworks. "The GCAA is committed to safely integrating innovative aviation technologies into the UAE airspace," said Eng. Aqeel Al Zarooni, Assistant Director General, Aviation Safety Affairs Sector at GCAA.

Wainwright notes that the U.S. Department of Transportation and the Federal Aviation Administration announced eight selections for the eVTOL Integration Pilot Program, or eIPP, calling the commencement of the federal initiative designed to accelerate the emerging advanced air mobility industry "a significant de-risking milestone for" market participants such as Joby (JOBY) and Archer Aviation (ACHR). The FAA's selection of only a few OEMs - including Joby, Archer, Beta Technologies (BETA), and five others - is indicative of a limited competitive field, while the 100% bonus depreciation could be supportive to fleet operators and airline partners such as United (UAL) and Delta (DAL) to take delivery of aircraft sooner, the analyst tells investors.

Electrically powered air taxis will start taking to the skies in some states and cities across the U.S., including in New York, after the government approved several pilot projects under a program meant to accelerate their integration into the U.S. airspace, Bloomberg's Allyson Versprille reports. The U.S. Transportation Department said Monday that it selected eight proposals under the so-called advanced air mobility and electric vertical takeoff and landing integration pilot program. The selected projects will span more than a dozen states, the department said in a statement shared with Bloomberg. They include a partnership between the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey and companies Joby Aviation (JOBY), Archer Aviation (AVHR), BETA Technologies, and Electra.aero.
