Zapata Quantum announced the appointment of three quantum industry and vertical market veterans to its Growth Advisory Board. The new GAB members include Steve Suarez, CEO of HorizonX, McKinsey Senior Advisor and co-founder of the Quantum Index; Steven Lau, CEO of WorldQuant Foundry and early stage investor in IonQ and PsiQuantum; and M. Jeff Brittain, Managing Director at the FedEx Institute of Technology at the University of Memphis and former head of North American IT at Bayer and senior IT leader at Merck.

Zapata Quantum announced that its patent for Quantum Intermediate Representation has been granted in Canada, Europe, Israel, and Australia, in addition to its earlier U.S. grant. QIR is a hardware-agnostic translation layer that enables quantum applications to interoperate across distinct hardware platforms and programming frameworks. With global patent protection now in place, Zapata has secured exclusive rights to this capability, allowing developers to translate a program once into a universal representation, then execute it across any connected quantum hardware backend.

Sumit Kapur, CEO of Zapata Quantum, spoke to global business and technology leaders in Davos, Switzerland. In his remarks on two separate panels, he outlined why the next phase of quantum computing will be defined not by hardware milestones alone, but by the ability to build, validate, and deploy reliable quantum applications. "It's a privilege to be part of the Davos dialogue at a moment when quantum computing is clearly reaching an inflection point," said Kapur. "The field is moving beyond foundational research toward real-world applications and economic impact, and it's encouraging to see the level of engagement and interest from global leaders across industry, investment, and the public sector reflect that shift."
