Major Averages Close Broadly Higher as Market Sentiment Improves
The major averages closed broadly higher, extending the strength of the last day of March into the start of April. Markets are staging a sharp relief rally as the dominant narrative is de-escalation. Comments suggesting a potential wind-down of U.S. military activity in Iran have triggered a broad risk-on move across equities, bonds and currencies. Of note, President Trump said in a social media post that Iran's president has requested a ceasefire, though Trump noted the U.S. will consider the offer when the Strait of Hormuz is "open, free, and clear."Get caught up quickly on the top news and calls moving stocks with these five Top Five lists.1. Stellantis Discusses EV Production in Canada with Zhejiang Leapmotor
Stellantis is discussing options for building electric vehicles in Canada with its Chinese partner, Zhejiang Leapmotor Technology Co., people familiar with the matter told Bloomberg's Brian Platt and Gabrielle Coppola. The talks are in an early stage, said the sources. Should both companies proceed, it would be the first significant Chinese auto investment in Canada since Prime Minister Mark Carney struck a deal with President Xi Jinping in January to lower tariffs on Chinese-made electric vehicles, the authors note.

Stellantis Reports 4% Increase in Q1 U.S. Sales
Stellantis' FCA US LLC reported total first-quarter U.S. sales increased 4% versus the same period in 2025. Overall, the company sold 305,902 vehicles in the quarter. "We continue to build strong momentum with 4% year-over-year growth, improving market share in an industry that is forecasted to be down approximately 6% based on early reports," said Jeff Kommor, head of U.S. retail sales. "There have been plenty of challenges facing the industry this quarter, but these results are proof that we are effectively activating our business reset. They also reflect the confidence we have in our product lineup and dealer network. As more new vehicles reach showrooms, we're offering customers the right blend of capability, design and powertrain choice to keep our brands competitive and growing." The company reported: Ram total sales increase 20% year over year; Jeep total sales up 3% compared to Q1 2025; Dodge total sales up 4% year over year; Chrysler Pacifica total sales increase nearly 84% month over month in March, second consecutive month of growth.
