State Attorneys General Can Request Additional Information on HPE-Juniper Merger, According to Bloomberg
A federal judge has ruled that state attorneys general may seek additional information about the Justice Department's antitrust settlement with Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) over its acquisition of Juniper Networks (JNPR), Bloomberg's Leah Nylen and Josh Sisco report. The decision, made under the Tunney Act's public-interest review process, also allows states to file a motion to halt further integration of the companies while the settlement undergoes closer scrutiny, the report notes. The DOJ sued HPE in January to block its $14B purchase of Juniper.

Colorado AG Phil Weiser stands against $14 billion merger between HP Enterprise and Juniper.
Attorney General Phil Weiser led a group of attorneys general in opposing the Justice Department's proposed settlement in the $14B HP Enterprise (HPE) and Juniper Networks (JNPR) merger. The coalition of attorneys general also urged the judge overseeing the case to hold a hearing to determine if the merger is in the public interest and whether it was obtained through the kind of influence peddling that federal law intended to prevent. In a letter to the Justice Department, the state attorneys general take issue with the department's approval of the merger and say that the court should "examine the process that led to the Proposed Final Judgment in this case to uncover whether it has been terminally infected by precisely the type of backroom dealing the Tunney Act was intended to prevent."

U.S. intelligence intervened to push HPE-Juniper merger, Axios reports
The U.S. intelligence community persuaded the DOJ that allowing the HPE (HPE)-Juniper (JNPR) merger was essential to U.S. national security and competing with Huawei, Mike Allen of Axios reports.
