WeRide announced that it will once again deploy its autonomous Robobus at the Roland-Garros tournament, marking the third consecutive year of operations in partnership with Renault Group. Since 2024, the WeRide Robobus has provided the only autonomous public shuttle service at Roland-Garros, showcasing next-generation autonomous driving technology at one of the world's most prestigious sporting events.

China has suspended issuing licenses to autonomous vehicles after dozens of Baidu's (BIDU) Apollo Go robotaxis stopped in Wuhan last month, Bloomberg reports, citing people familiar with the matter. This event alarmed authorities and three agencies met with officials from cities that have robotaxis earlier this month, the sources said. Regulators asked local governments to conduct a self-review and enhance safety monitoring to prevent more incidents, the sources said. Other companies in the space include Pony AI (PONY) and WeRide (WRD).

WeRide (WRD) announced an expanded collaboration with Lenovo (LNVGY) at Auto China 2026 to accelerate the large-scale commercialization of Level 4 autonomous driving. Starting 2026, the two companies expect to jointly deploy 200,000 autonomous vehicles, including Robotaxis, globally over the next five years. This collaboration will accelerate the development of a global autonomous driving ecosystem, integrating elements across technology, computing infrastructure and supply chain. Looking ahead, WeRide and Lenovo will continue to deepen collaboration on L4 AVs, including autonomous minibuses and sanitation vehicles.
