People CEO Accuses Google of Abusing Market Power
Neil Vogel, the CEO of People (PPLI), has accused Google (GOOGL) of leveraging its market power by using the same web crawler infrastructure for both traditional search indexing and AI products, arguing that publishers have limited ability to opt out of AI usage without affecting search visibility, Christine Wang of Axios reports. "We can't actually block Google, because Google uses the same crawler for search as they do for AI, which is like an incredible abuse of market power," Vogel said, adding that "We would love to do something productive with them, but we're probably heading towards more confrontation than productivity with those guys."
