Maxeon Solar Files Patent Infringement Lawsuit Against Aiko Solar in Germany
Maxeon Solar announced that it has filed a new patent infringement lawsuit against Aiko Solar before the Munich Regional Court I in Germany. The lawsuit accuses Aiko and its European distribution network of infringing Maxeon's core back contact solar technology patent EP2297789B1, specifically addressing Aiko's second-generation and third-generation BC solar module products currently sold in the European market. This lawsuit follows Maxeon's previous intellectual property protection actions against Aiko and its sales channel, including a 2023 complaint filed before the Mannheim Regional Court concerning infringement of Maxeon patent EP2297788, and a 2024 complaint before the Unified Patent Court Local Division in Dusseldorf regarding infringement of Maxeon patent EP3065184. All three patents belong to the same BC solar technology family. Maxeon is seeking a court order for Aiko and the other defendants to refrain from infringing activities, disclose sales data for the accused products, and compensate for damages. Maxeon also seeks the destruction of infringing inventory held in Germany. Maxeon has not only targeted Aiko's manufacturing and sales entities but has also named four German solar product distributors-Wattkraft GmbH & Co., DWH Solutions, Memodo and Tepto as co-defendants.

Trump considers halting another $12B in clean energy funding, according to Semafor.
The White House is weighing canceling an additional $12B in funding for clean energy projects beyond what it announced a week ago, Semafor's Tim McDonnell reports, citing a list of targeted projects. The so-called "kill list," as it was referred to by a source who reviewed it, would amount to an escalation of the Trump administration's attacks on clean energy, as well as a sign that the White House is using the current government shutdown as a pretext for accelerating its broader policy agenda, the author notes. Publicly traded companies in the space include GE Vernova (GEV), Eversource (ES), NextEra Energy (NEE), Brookfield Renewable Partners (BEP), Array Technologies (ARRY), Canadian Solar (CSIQ), Emeren (SOL), Enphase Energy (ENPH), FTC Solar (FTCI), First Solar (FSLR), JinkoSolar (JKS), Maxeon Solar (MAXN), Shoals Technologies (SHLS), SolarEdge (SEDG), SunPower (SPWR) and Sunrun (RUN).
