The Nevada Gaming Control Board reports January Las Vegas Strip gaming win down 11% to $747.66M versus last year. Kyle Langford, a Republican candidate for governor in California, has been fined $2,246.36 by Kalshi for violating its rules for making prediction-market wages on its platform, Krystal Hur of The Wall Street Journal reports. Langford was fined and banned from using the platform for five years after betting on his own victory for California governor. The platform prohibits candidates in a political race from betting in markets related to their own elections. Artem Kaptur, a video editor for YouTube streamer MrBeast, has similarly been fined $20,397.58 due to trading on markets tied to MrBeast's videos. Las Vegas Sands announced that Patrick Dumont will become the company's chairman and CEO effective March 1. Dumont will succeed Robert Goldstein, who becomes a senior advisor to the company through March 2028. Sands' board of directors had previously indicated Dumont would be the likely successor to Goldstein. Dumont was also appointed chairman of Sands China Ltd., the company's Hong Kong-listed subsidiary. Dumont was appointed president and COO of Sands in January 2021 and has been a member of the board of directors since 2017.
