The major averages closed mixed, with the S&P 500 and Nasdaq ending lower despite earlier gains, as oil prices keep rising amid continued conflict in the Middle East. Of note, President Trump said the U.S. is in "serious discussions" with Iran to end its military operations. However, he added that if a peace deal is not reached "shortly" and the Strait of Hormuz is not reopened, the U.S. will "conclude our lovely 'stay' in Iran by blowing up and completely obliterating all of their Electric Generating Plants, Oil Wells and Kharg Island (and possibly all desalinization plants!), which we have purposefully not yet 'touched.'" According to a regulatory filing, Penumbra (PEN) and Boston Scientific (BSX) each filed a notification and report form under the HSR Act with the DOJ and the FTC on February 13, 2026. On March 16, 2026, Penumbra and Boston Scientific each received a Second Request from the FTC in connection with the FTC's review of the Merger. The issuance of the Second Request extends the waiting period under the HSR Act until 30 days after both Penumbra and Boston Scientific have substantially complied with the Second Request, unless the waiting period is extended voluntarily by the parties or terminated earlier by the FTC.
