BlackRock Floating Rate Income Trust (the Trust) is a diversified, closed-end management investment company. The Trust's investment objective is to provide a high level of current income. The Trust's secondary objective seeks the preservation of capital to the extent consistent with its primary objective of high current income. The Trust invests at least 80% of its managed assets in floating and variable rate instruments of United States (U.S.) and non-U.S. issuers, including a substantial portion of its assets in senior, secured loans made to corporate and other business entities. The Trust may invest directly in such securities or synthetically through the use of derivatives. It may invest up to 20% of its managed assets in fixed rate instruments of U.S. and non-U.S. issuers, including developed and emerging markets debt, investment grade and high yield corporate debt, sovereign debt, and mortgage-related and asset-backed securities.
