FTC reportedly considering antitrust concerns regarding Henkel's acquisition of glue manufacturer.
FTC Challenge: The U.S. Federal Trade Commission is preparing to challenge Henkel's planned acquisition of part of Pittsburgh Paint Co., which is controlled by American Industrial Partners, due to concerns over market competition in liquid construction adhesives.
Acquisition Details: The deal, which has not been officially announced, would combine Henkel, a leader in adhesives, with Pittsburgh Paint's Liquid Nails brand, a well-known product in the adhesive market.
Recent Ownership Changes: This acquisition marks the second ownership change for the Liquid Nails brand in under a year, following PPG Industries' sale of its architectural coatings operations to AIP for $550 million in late 2024.
FTC's Recent Activity: Under Chair Andrew Ferguson, the FTC has been active in blocking mergers, having already challenged two other transactions this year, indicating a rigorous approach to antitrust enforcement.
