Serve Robotics Expands into Restaurant Kitchens with Vebu Acquisition
Serve Robotics, renowned for its sidewalk delivery robots, is expanding its operations into restaurant kitchens with the acquisition of Vebu, the creators of the "Autocado" technology. This technology, currently being tested by Chipotle, automates the process of cutting, coring, and scooping avocados. Chipotle has been utilizing the robot in several California locations.
This acquisition marks Serve Robotics' entry into the restaurant sector beyond its current delivery services for Uber Eats. The company aims to increase its partnerships within the restaurant industry, leveraging the Autocado technology to enhance automation solutions.
Serve Robotics' CEO, Ali Kashani, expressed the company's ambition to become a comprehensive provider of restaurant automation technology. By the end of the year, Serve plans to expand its service to 750 restaurant locations, significantly increasing its reach with the help of its latest delivery robot model.
Financial terms of the Vebu acquisition have not been disclosed.
