Wall Street Journal Corrects Report on U.S. Navy Operations
The Wall Street Journal has acknowledged inaccuracies in its reporting regarding the U.S. Navy's operations in the Strait of Hormuz. The original statement claimed that the U.S. Navy had resumed guiding ships through the strait, but it has since been revised to indicate that the Navy is currently "quietly assisting" vessels in this area.
Previously, the report mentioned that a Greek supertanker carrying 2 million barrels of crude oil was under U.S. Navy escort, suggesting a restart of the "Freedom Plan." However, this assertion has been removed in the latest update, which includes a response from a spokesperson for U.S. Central Command clarifying that the "Freedom Plan" has not been reinstated. The spokesperson emphasized that earlier reports claiming the plan's revival were inaccurate.
In conclusion, the Wall Street Journal admitted its error, stating, "The previous version of this article incorrectly indicated that the coordination actions between the U.S. and commercial vessels represented a restart of the 'Freedom Plan.'"
