Wolfspeed announced an expansion into the growing data center market with the creation of a data center solutions team and regional office in the San Francisco Bay Area. The new Wolfspeed data center solutions team is targeted to enable closer alignment with leading hyperscalers, ODMs and the entire ecosystem to build differentiated products and solutions for AI and other data center applications.

Wolfspeed is down -19.6%, or -$14.37 to $59.13.

Huawei announced what it described as a breakthrough in advanced semiconductor development, claiming it expects to reach transistor density equivalent to 1.4-nanometer-class chips by 2031, a milestone it says could help China reduce reliance on foreign chip technology amid ongoing U.S. export restrictions, Reuters' Che Pan, Eduardo Baptista, and Casey Hall report. Shares in semiconductor companies with exposure to Asia, including Wolfspeed (WOLF) and Semtech (SMTC), are moving higher in premarket trading, with Wolfspeed up 10% and Semtech up 6.4%.

Wolfspeed has introduced two new 3.3 kV silicon carbide power module families - including high-power half-bridge baseplate modules and scalable full-bridge baseplate-less modules in industry-standard footprints - that are purpose-built to address the rapidly approaching power constraints driven by AI data centers and the broader energy transition. Meeting this moment requires power generation, conversion, and distribution that is faster, smaller, more efficient, cost-effective, and more resilient than anything silicon alone can deliver. These new module families give engineers the tools to modernize energy infrastructure across the entire energy life cycle.
