Northern Trust announced that it has received a license from the Central Bank of Ireland for the establishment of The Northern Trust Company, Ireland Branch. This new banking branch will provide a range of custodial, banking and capital markets services, including domestically regulated banking services for Ireland-domiciled clients. Its activities will complement those of Northern Trust Global Services S.E., Northern Trust's continental European bank, which was established in Luxembourg in March 2019.

Northern Trust announced at Snowflake's annual user conference, Snowflake Summit 26, that it is a founding member of the Financial Services Working Group under Open Semantic Interchange. OSI is an open source initiative designed to help organizations work from shared, consistent data definitions. While a universal format provides the structural blueprint, the true value lies in contextualizing data to reflect the unique nuances of specific industries - a movement being led by the financial services sector. In financial services, similar data - such as accounts, transactions, or market information - is often defined in different ways across firms. Convening financial institutions and technology partners, the OSI Financial Services Working Group will focus on harmonizing this fragmented data through an open, industry-neutral semantic model framework.

Northern Trust Wealth Management has appointed Beata Kirr as Chief Investment Officer of Global Family Office. Kirr will oversee investment strategy for GFO, leading portfolio construction and delivering investment insights to ultra-high-net-worth families and family offices.Kirr most recently served as Managing Director and Chief Impact Officer at The Copia Group, a direct lending private credit firm.
