President Donald Trump stated in a post to Truth Social: "Instead of working with the United States, Canada retaliated with its own tariffs. Starting August 1, we will charge Canada a tariff of 35% on Canadian products sent into the United States, separate from all Sectoral Tariffs".

Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick tells Fox Business News that President Trump wants to "work something out" with Canada and Mexico on tariffs, The Wall Street Journal's Meridith McGraw reports. Lutnick stated that "some kind of deal" is likely to get announced tomorrow, the report states.
