Baker Hughes reports that the U.S. rig count is up 1 from last week to 551 with oil rigs up 4 to 411, gas rigs down 2 to 132 and miscellaneous rigs down 1 to 8. The U.S. Rig Count is down 41 rigs from last year's count of 592 with oil rigs down 75, gas rigs up 31 and miscellaneous up 3. The U.S. Offshore Rig Count is up 1 to 18, up 4 year-over-year. The Canada Rig Count is down 9 from last week to 205 with oil rigs down 6 to 139, gas rigs down 4 to 65 and miscellaneous up 1 to 1. The Canada Rig Count is down 29 from last year's count of 234 with oil rigs down 31, gas rigs up 1 and miscellaneous rigs up 1.

The company said, "On October 6, 2025 Chart's (GTLS) shareholders voted to approve the company's acquisition by Baker Hughes (BKR). Under the terms of the merger agreement, Chart shareholders will be entitled to receive $210 per share of common stock in cash upon the close of the transaction. With regulatory reviews still underway in certain jurisdictions, we presently expect closing in the second quarter of 2026, understanding that the timing may evolve as those processes progress."

The U.S. Rig Count is down 43 rigs from last year's count of 593 with oil rigs down 79, gas rigs up 32 and miscellaneous up 4. The U.S. Offshore Rig Count is down 1 to 17, up 4 year-over-year. The Canada Rig Count is down 10 from last week to 214 with oil rigs down 8 to 145, gas rigs down 2 to 69 and miscellaneous unchanged at 0. The Canada Rig Count is down 34 from last year's count of 248 with oil rigs down 32, gas rigs down 2 and miscellaneous rigs unchanged.
