Jefferies Financial (JEF) has filed a lawsuit against Western Alliance (WAL), alleging the bank unlawfully froze a $25M account held by Point Bonita Capital during a dispute over losses tied to the collapse of First Brands Group, Bloomberg's David Voreacos reports. Western Alliance sued Jefferies, alleging the firm failed to repay a loan backed by First Brands Group receivables and misled the bank into a refinancing arrangement. "Western Alliance Bank has alleged - falsely - that the defendants somehow knew and had reason to know that First Brands was engaged in fraud," Jefferies said in the lawsuit, which was filed in New York state court.

Western Alliance Bancorporation announced that Kenneth Vecchione, President and Chief Executive Officer, has been appointed Chairman of its Board of Directors, effective as of June 10, 2026. Vecchione succeeds Bruce Beach, who will continue to serve as a Director and return to the role of Lead Independent Director, which he held from 2010 to 2022.
