Telesat announced the acquisition of land in Estevan, Saskatchewan and Papineauville, Quebec, and the lease of land in Shaunavon, Saskatchewan. These sites will host new landing stations that will route data between the Telesat Lightspeed Low Earth Orbit, LEO, satellite network and major fibre and internet exchange points. "Telesat is rapidly advancing the global buildout of the terrestrial infrastructure that will be fully integrated with our LEO satellites, and these Quebec and Saskatchewan sites are playing pivotal roles in that progress," said Asit Tandon, Telesat's Chief Network and Information Officer. "These strategically located facilities strengthen connectivity across Canada and contribute to the worldwide terrestrial foundation we are establishing ahead of our first satellite launch in December."

Telesat and Hanwha Systems announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding to jointly collaborate on next-generation, sovereign satellite connectivity solutions, as well as user terminals that will be compatible with Telesat's Low Earth Orbit network, Telesat Lightspeed. The MOU follows the signing of a Letter of Intent between the Government of Canada through the Canadian Commercial Corporation and the Government of Korea through the Defense Acquisition Program Administration to pursue a structured initiative on next-generation commercial Low earth Orbit satellite communications and advanced maritime platforms. Hanwha and Telesat will explore a range of cooperative programs, notably the Government of Korea's LEO communications satellite constellation and defense user terminals that are compatible with K-LEO and Telesat Lightspeed. Additionally, the companies are cooperating on the Canadian Patrol Submarine Project, where Hanwha intends to include significant, multi-year Telesat Lightspeed services as a key strategic aspect of its bid in its Industrial and Economic Benefits to Canada Proposal Annex. Hanwha will also look to apply Telesat Lightspeed services to various platforms within its weapon systems as a means of exploring potential business collaboration opportunities throughout the global defense market.

Telesat announced a strategic partnership agreement among the Government of Canada, Telesat Corporation and MDA Space to develop and deliver a multi-frequency, Arctic military satellite communications capability to the Canadian Armed Forces. Telesat announced an expanded relationship with Farcast. Under the new agreement, Farcast will deliver an enterprise-class Flat Panel Antenna User Terminal that is fully integrated with the Telesat Lightspeed modem and ready for volume production. Additionally, Telesat is making a $5M equity investment in Farcast and will take a seat on Farcast's board of directors to support the company's alignment with the goals of the Telesat Lightspeed program.
