Major Averages Drop Over 1% Due to Tariff Policy
The major averages were sharply lower, with the Big Three indices all slipping 1% or more following the latest updates on the tariff front. After the Supreme Court struck down broad tariff authority previously used by the administration, the administration promptly announced a new 15% global tariff plan under a different statute. Markets also appeared to be reacting to another wave of AI worries, with the latest bout triggered by a Citrini Research report that paints a picture of an AI-driven economic downturn, with mass white collar layoffs creating a deflationary cascade. The tariff developments have spilled over into commodity markets, with safe haven assets such as gold and silver seeing support as traders brace for policy-driven volatility and reposition for uncertainty.Get caught up quickly on the top news and calls moving stocks with these five Top Five lists.1. Satellogic Launches Aleph Observer for Continuous Monitoring
Satellogic announced the launch of Aleph Observer, its persistent monitoring capability designed to deliver sustained, large-scale situational awareness across critical locations worldwide. Aleph Observer represents a shift in how Earth observation is procured and used. Rather than relying on episodic tasking and best-effort imagery delivery, it enables ongoing monitoring of hundreds of sites daily with predictable delivery over time. This allows teams to detect and assess change without repeated tasking, helping reduce operational friction and increase confidence in what was observed and what was not. "Aleph Observer reflects what our customers are actually trying to achieve," said Emiliano Kargieman, CEO. "They are not interested in simply buying images, they are responsible for high-quality awareness at scale, and for acting on change. Aleph Observer enables them to monitor hundreds of sites daily with the consistency, performance, and economics required to sustain that level of coverage."

Supreme Court Rules Against Trump's Tariffs
The major averages initially had a muted reaction after the Supreme Court ruled against certain of President Donald Trump's tariffs, resulting in stock spikes for retailers and other names that have had to deal with major impacts from rising import and manufacturing costs. The court determined that the International Emergency Economic Powers Act "does not authorize the President to impose tariffs."In response, Trump called the ruling "deeply disappointing," adding that 10% Section 122 tariffs will be imposed on top of the other tariffs. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer said the Section 122 tariffs will be implemented and signed today. When the dust settled, the averages closed with gains for the day, though uncertainty remains about how any tariff refunds will be paid, to whom and if refunds will be issued at all.Looking to commodities, gold was sharply higher, while oil was marginally higher amid continued tensions with Iran.Get caught up quickly on the top news and calls moving stocks with these five Top Five lists.1.
