UK Prime Minister Confirms Social Media Ban for Children Under 16
UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer is expected to confirm a social media ban for children under-16 along with other measures such as curfews on older teenagers and more regulations on chatbots, Julian Harris, Ellen Milligan, and Alex Wickham of Bloomberg reports. "This is a choice about whose side we're on: families across the country, or a status quo that isn't working," Starmer said in a statement late Sunday, according to Bloomberg. Publicly traded companies that could be impacted include Meta Platforms (META), Alphabet (GOOGL), Pinterest (PINS), Reddit (RDDT) and Snap (SNAP).
