Comstock Resources (CRK) announced that the Western Haynesville will host the recently announced Texas Natural Gas-Fired Power Generation Hub in Anderson County Texas. The selection was announced on March 20 by the United States Department of Commerce in connection with Japan's $550B investment commitment to the United States as part of the U.S.- Japan trade deal. The selected project is the result of the collaboration of the company and NextEra Energy (NEE) to develop a power generation project near Comstock's Western Hayneville natural gas operations. The Texas Power Generation Hub will be owned jointly by Japan and the U.S. under the structure of the joint trade agreement and will be built and operated by NextEra, the largest energy infrastructure builder in the United States. The investment is subject to negotiation and execution of definitive documents by NextEra and various constituents, as well as NextEra's completion of development, construction and commissioning of the selected project. The Anderson County Texas facility will have up to 5.2 GW of natural gas-fired generation capable of serving up to 5 GW of large-load demand. Comstock will provide natural gas supply for the facility which could reach almost 1 Bcf per day by 2031. The estimated cost of the facility is $16B.

Nvidia (NVDA) and Emerald AI announced that they are working with AES (AES), Constellation (CEG), Invenergy, NextEra Energy, Nscale Energy & Power and Vistra (VST) to power and advance a new class of AI factories that connect to the grid faster, generate valuable AI tokens and intelligence, and operate as flexible energy assets that can support the grid. The company said, "By bringing together technology, energy and infrastructure leaders, the collaboration demonstrates how companies across industries can convene to support AI innovation in the United States, while building a more reliable power system for Americans. These next-generation AI factories will harness the new NVIDIA Vera Rubin DSX AI Factory reference design, which includes the DSX Flex software library for connecting AI factories to power-grid services. For accelerated deployment, the factories can use co-located energy generation and storage as bridge power for hybrid AI factories, then later harness these resources to flexibly supply the grid, accelerate AI factory interconnection and support the broader power system. This approach helps bring AI capacity online faster while creating broader value for customers and communities. The DSX reference architecture can also support flexible AI factories without co-located energy resources to achieve larger and faster power grid connections. Emerald AI's Conductor platform will orchestrate computational flexibility alongside onsite generation, batteries and other behind-the-meter resources to deliver precise, grid-responsive power flexibility while ensuring quality of service for AI compute tenants. This coordination helps operators meet power targets, protect priority workloads, shorten time on bridge power, and support larger and faster interconnections. It can also help reduce the need for infrastructure to be sized around peaks, easing pressure on future system costs."

NextEra Energy confirmed that President Donald J. Trump has approved the development of up to 10 gigawatts of natural gas-powered generation in Texas and Pennsylvania. The approval, made in connection with Japan's $550 billion investment commitment to the United States as part of the U.S.-Japan trade deal, positions NextEra Energy to work with the administration to develop reliable, large-scale power infrastructure to support America's growth and technological leadership, the company said in a statement. The investment is subject to negotiation and execution of definitive documents by NextEra Energy and various constituents, as well as NextEra Energy's completion of development, construction and commissioning of the selected projects. The projects, which would be owned jointly by Japan and the U.S. under the structure of the joint trade agreement, would be built and operated by NextEra Energy.
