PPG (PPG) announced a collaboration with IPG Photonics (IPGP) and Whirlpool (WHR) to accelerate the broad-scale commercialization of laser curing systems for powder coatings. The focus is on identifying opportunities to reduce curing costs and environmental impact while increasing finishing line speed.

IPG Photonics (IPGP) announced that it has received an order from Lockheed Martin Corporation (LMT) for the delivery of its Crossbow. The order is valued at approximately $10 million and is expected to be delivered over the next several quarters. "We are encouraged by the continued success of CROSSBOW, our scalable, cost-effective laser defense system for countering smaller unmanned aircraft threats. This follow-on order from Lockheed Martin reflects both the clear demand for deployable directed energy solutions and the readiness of our product," said Dr. Mark Gitin, Chief Executive Officer of IPG Photonics.

IPG Photonics announced that the Local Division of the Unified Patent Court located in Mannheim, Germany has issued a decision in a patent infringement case brought by Trumpf SE & Co. KG. The court ruled that certain designs of IPG's adjustable mode beam lasers used in welding and cutting applications infringed European Patent 2,951,625. The decision impacts certain AMB laser products sold in seven UPC contracting member states, including Germany, France and Italy, affecting less than 1% of IPG's total sales. IPG respectfully disagrees with the decision and plans to file an appeal with the UPC Court of Appeal.

IPG Photonics is down -14.5%, or -$22.33 to $131.58.
