Screening Filters

1. moving_average_relationship: PriceAboveMA20, PriceAboveMA200

   • Purpose: Capture stocks in uptrends over both the short and long term.
   • Rationale:

2. rsi_category: moderate

   • Purpose: Focus on rising stocks that are not extremely overbought or oversold.
   • Rationale:
     • A “moderate” RSI avoids names where momentum is exhausted (very high RSI) or where there is no clear uptrend yet (very low RSI).
     • For “steadily rising” stocks, you want healthy momentum, not extremes that often precede pullbacks or reversals.

3. quarter_price_change_pct: min: 20, max: 80

   • Purpose: Find stocks with meaningful, but not explosive, gains over the last quarter (roughly 3 months).
   • Rationale:
     • Min 20%: Ensures the stock has had a solid advance, consistent with a rising trend rather than flat or choppy price action.

   • Rationale:

     • This improves data quality and liquidity, making it more likely that trends are reliable and tradable, which matters for a “steady” rise.

5. is_index_component: GSPC (S&P 500)

   • Purpose: Restrict results to S&P 500 constituents.
   • Rationale:
     • The S&P 500 includes large, established companies with better liquidity and typically more stable behavior than small, thinly traded stocks.
