   • Purpose:
     To select assets whose RSI is in the “overbought” zone, i.e., with relatively high RSI values that indicate strong recent price strength and potential overextension.

   • Rationale:
     In technical analysis, an RSI above 70 is typically categorized as overbought. By filtering for the “overbought” category, the screener is targeting assets whose RSI is already elevated and thus more likely to include those above 80 as well.

     Since the screener works with categories rather than specific RSI thresholds (e.g., “above 80”), using the “overbought” category is the closest possible match to your request within the available tools.

Why Results Match (and Where They Differ From Your Exact Request)

• Conceptual match:

  • Your request: “RSI above 80” → assets with very high relative strength.
  • Applied filter: “RSI category = overbought” → assets with high RSI (typically >70).
  • Both are targeting securities that are extended on the upside and may be due for a pause, pullback, or at least are showing unusually strong recent momentum.

• Technical limitation (exact threshold vs. category):

  • The screener does not allow setting a precise RSI cutoff like “RSI > 80.”
  • Instead, it supports a categorical view: oversold / neutral / overbought.
  • Therefore, we cannot strictly enforce “> 80,” but we can enforce “in the high RSI zone,” which is a broader but directionally correct approximation.

• How effective this is for your goal:

  • All returned assets will have elevated RSI relative to normal levels (i.e., not neutral or oversold).
  • A meaningful subset of these will, in practice, have RSI above 80, especially those with the strongest recent price runs.
  • So while not a perfect numerical filter, this approach captures the same type of market condition you’re looking for: securities exhibiting unusually strong recent momentum, often associated with RSI readings above 70 and sometimes above 80.

If you need to focus only on the most extreme cases, you could use this screen as a first pass and then manually check RSI values to isolate those strictly above 80.
