Screening Filters

1. floating_shares <= 20,000,000

   • Purpose: Capture low-float stocks by limiting the maximum number of shares available for public trading.
   • Rationale:
     • “Float” refers specifically to shares freely tradable in the market (excluding insider holdings, restricted shares, etc.).
     • A cap of 20 million shares is a common practical cutoff used by traders and screeners to define “low float.” Many well-known low-float movers fall below this level.
     • This filter directly targets what you requested: low float stocks. As the float decreases, price can move more sharply on a given volume, which is often what traders look for in low-float names.

2. list_exchange IN [XNYS, XNAS, XASE]

   • Purpose: Restrict results to U.S.-listed stocks.
   • Rationale:
     • XNYS = New York Stock Exchange (NYSE)
     • XNAS = NASDAQ
     • XASE = NYSE American (formerly AMEX)
     • These are the primary U.S. stock exchanges, so this filter ensures that only U.S. securities are returned, matching your request for “US stocks.”

Why Results Match

• The low-float requirement is handled explicitly via the floating_shares <= 20,000,000 filter, which is a direct implementation of a low-float criterion commonly used by traders.
• The U.S. market requirement is handled by restricting listings to NYSE, NASDAQ, and NYSE American, which together cover the main U.S. exchanges.
