Some have speculated that the August 2025 high was due to the Switch 2 console smashing sales records in Japan and in the U.S. following its June 2025 launch, and the drop has been attributed to factors such as slowing Switch 2 sales over the holiday period and a lack of a "killer" exclusive game seven months into the console's existence, the author noted.Meanwhile, Famitsu reported that the Nintendo Switch 2 sold 3.78M units in Japan in 2025. The top-selling video games in Japan for the period were Nintendo's "Mario Kart World," Konami's"Momotaro Dentetsu 2: Anata no Machi Mokittoaru Nintendo Switch 2 Edition," Nintendo's "Pokemon Legends: Z-A," and Nintendo's "Kirby Air Riders."to check out recent Media Buzz Sentiment on Take-Two as measured by TipRanks.ITALY/ACTIVISION:On Friday, the Italian Competition Authority has launched two investigations into Activision Blizzard, owned by Microsoft, relating to the video games "Diablo Immortal" and "Call of Duty Mobile" - described as free to play but offering in-game purchases - for engaging in misleading and aggressive practices, as well as breaching consumers' contractual rights. In the Authority's view, the company "may be acting in breach of consumer protection rules and, in particular, the duty of professional diligence required in a sector that is particularly sensitive to the risks of gaming-related addiction." The investigations focus on the possible use of deceptive user-interface design aimed at inducing consumers to play more often, extend their gaming sessions and take up promoted offers. Examples include repeated prompts, both during and outside gameplay, urging users not to miss out on rewards - also through in-app messages and push notifications - as well as to purchase time-limited items before they become unavailable. "These practices, together with strategies that make it difficult for users to understand the real value of the virtual currency used in the game and the sale of in-game currency in bundles, may influence players as consumers - including minors - leading them to spend significant amounts, sometimes exceeding what is necessary to progress in the game and without being fully aware of the expenditure involved."MORE VIDEO GAME NEWS:Sony's Bungie confirmed that multiplayer shooter "Marathon" willMicrosoft is preparing to launch a session-basedin 2026, according to Windows Central's Jez CordenA continued flow of hit games on Robloxsupports bookings growth,
