Doc Pomus's Background: Doc Pomus, a prominent lyricist from the 1950s and early '60s, drew inspiration from his personal experiences with heartache and grief, stemming from his childhood battle with polio, which influenced many of his hit songs about teenage rejection and loneliness.

New Music Release: On August 15, Omnivore Recordings will release "You Can’t Hip a Square: The Doc Pomus Songwriting Demos," a six-CD box set featuring 165 tracks of demos and recordings, much of which is being released for the first time after being stored for seven years.
