Vodacom's M&A Plans Halted: South Africa's Vodacom has decided not to pursue other merger and acquisition deals after its proposed merger with Maziv was blocked by regulators, which CEO Shameel Joosub described as a significant loss for investment opportunities in the country.
Financial Performance and Future Outlook: Vodacom reported a 19.4% drop in half-year earnings due to start-up losses in Ethiopia and currency depreciation, leading to a cut in its interim dividend and a revised break-even target for its Ethiopian operations to FY 2027.
