Vedanta of India to Continue Using Coal as Primary Energy Source, Says Senior Executive
Vedanta's Energy Strategy: Vedanta Ltd plans to maintain coal as its primary energy source, accounting for nearly 70% of its energy mix, while aiming to increase renewable energy sources to 50-60% over the next three to four years.
International Operations and Production Goals: The company is also focusing on energy transitions in its overseas operations, particularly in Zambia, where it plans to build a 300-megawatt power facility and aims to ramp up copper production to 300,000 metric tons over the next three years.
Decarbonization Efforts: Vedanta is targeting a shift towards non-fossil energy sources, including solar and wind, to support its decarbonization goals.
No Plans for Lithium Mining: In India, Vedanta has no intentions to enter lithium mining, citing the country's lack of showcased exploration potential.
