Spain acquires 18 Airbus military transport aircraft to update outdated fleets.
New Aircraft Order: Spain has ordered 18 Airbus C295 transport aircraft to replace older CN235 and C212 planes for training pilots and paratroopers in the Spanish Air and Space Force.
Operational Goals: The new aircraft will enhance the military transport fleet's commonality and will be used for various missions, including personnel transport, cargo operations, and medical evacuation.
Delivery Schedule: The acquisition is structured in two phases, with the first batch for training and transport set to be delivered between 2026 and 2028, and the second batch for paratrooper and cargo operations scheduled for 2030 to 2032.
Training and Support: The contract includes a ground-based training system for aircrew and fleet support services, ensuring comprehensive training and maintenance through December 2032.
