Rheinmetall CEO states there are no ongoing negotiations with VW regarding the Osnabrueck facility.
Rheinmetall's Position on Volkswagen Factory: Rheinmetall's CEO Armin Papperger stated that the company is not currently in negotiations with Volkswagen regarding its Osnabrueck factory, despite Volkswagen exploring alternative uses for the site.
Capacity and Investment Plans: Papperger indicated that Rheinmetall has sufficient capacity at its existing plants to meet current and future orders, and any investment in the Volkswagen factory would depend on a special contract.
Shift to Defence Production: Rheinmetall is focusing on repurposing its automotive sites for military production to capitalize on increased defence spending in Europe, particularly following the conflict in Ukraine.
Expansion and Acquisitions: The company is actively expanding its capabilities, including acquiring the Luerssen Group's warship division, but has no immediate plans for further acquisitions to enhance its naval business.
