MTN South Africa's Initiative: MTN South Africa will provide 1.2 million prepaid customers with affordable 4G smartphones, starting at 99 rand ($5.42), to facilitate digital adoption as the country transitions away from 2G and 3G networks by 2027.
Phased Distribution Plan: The smartphone distribution will occur in three phases, beginning with 5,000 selected customers in Gauteng, followed by over 130,000 nationally, and ultimately reaching more than 1.1 million customers across South Africa.
