Collaboration for Carbon Capture: Japan Petroleum Exploration Co, Idemitsu Kosan Co, and Hokkaido Electric Power Co are collaborating to develop a carbon capture and storage (CCS) facility in northern Japan as part of the country's goal for carbon neutrality by 2050.
Project Details and Timeline: The CCS project, with a capacity of 1.5 to 2 million metric tons per year, will be located in Tomakomai, Hokkaido, and is expected to launch in 2030.
