Eneos and Mitsubishi's SAF Initiative: Japan's largest refiner, Eneos Corp, and trading house Mitsubishi Corp are advancing with front-end engineering design for sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) production at the Wakayama plant, aiming to produce 300,000 metric tons annually by fiscal 2028 using waste products as feedstock.
Government Support for SAF Projects: The Wakayama project has been selected by Japan's industry ministry for a public initiative to boost SAF production, alongside projects from Idemitsu Kosan and Cosmo Energy Holdings, although the size of the subsidy remains undisclosed.
