US Cotton Crop Status: The USDA reported that 71% of the US cotton crop is currently setting bolls, which is 6 points behind the normal pace, with 20% of the crop having opened bolls, down 2 percentage points from average.
Market Activity: On Friday, 192 bales of cotton were sold at an average price of 69.62 cents per pound, while the Cotlook A Index remained steady at 78.90 cents as of August 22.
Closing Prices: As of the publication date, October 25 cotton closed at 65.99 cents (down 44 points), December 25 cotton at 67.38 cents (down 63 points), and March 26 cotton at 69.18 cents (down 56 points).
