New Company Formation: Airbus, Leonardo, and Thales have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to create a new company that will consolidate their space activities, enhancing Europe's strategic autonomy in space.
Contributions and Structure: The new entity will integrate Airbus's Space Systems and Space Digital businesses, Leonardo's Space Division, and Thales's shares in Thales Alenia Space, Telespazio, and Thales SESO, employing around 25,000 people across Europe.
Ownership and Governance: Ownership will be divided among the three companies, with Airbus holding 35% and Leonardo and Thales each holding 32.5%, ensuring a balanced governance structure.
Operational Timeline: The new company is expected to be operational by 2027, pending regulatory approvals and customary conditions for the transaction's completion.
