Solana's Major Consensus Revamp Set for Community Vote
Upgrade Phase: Solana's Alpenglow upgrade is currently in the validator voting phase, aiming to replace existing protocols with a new architecture featuring Votor and Rotor.
Votor and Rotor Features: Votor aims to reduce block finality times from 12.8 seconds to 150 milliseconds for faster transaction confirmations, while Rotor will enhance bandwidth efficiency for sectors like DeFi and gaming.
Resilience and Security Enhancements: The upgrade introduces a "20+20" resilience model, allowing the network to function even if 20% of validators are malicious or offline, enhancing security and scalability.
Voting Progress: As of now, 10.09% of validators support the proposal, while 9.97% oppose it; a quorum of 33% is needed for advancement, with Votor set to be implemented first if approved.
