US Prosecutors Charge Canadian Hacker in $65M Crypto Heist

Charges Against Andean Medjedovic: A 22-year-old Canadian, Andean Medjedovic, has been charged by U.S. authorities for allegedly stealing around $65 million from two DeFi protocols, Indexed Finance and KyberSwap, through manipulation of smart contracts and subsequent money laundering activities.
Ongoing Investigation and Impact: Medjedovic has been evading capture since 2021 and attempted to extort the developers of KyberSwap after the theft. Experts believe that even with his arrest, recovery of the stolen funds may be difficult due to subsequent hacks involving the stolen cryptocurrency.
