Solana Labs offshoot Anza pitches ‘biggest change’ ever to network consensus
Written by Ohris M. Greyoon, Blockchain & Crypto Expert
Anza's Proposal for Alpenglow: Anza, a firm from Solana Labs, has introduced a new proof-of-stake consensus protocol called Alpenglow, which aims to significantly enhance Solana's core protocol and improve its responsiveness to compete with existing internet infrastructure, achieving finality in approximately 150 milliseconds.
Limitations of Alpenglow: Despite its advancements, the Alpenglow protocol will not completely eliminate network outages that Solana has faced previously, and the current reliance on a single production-ready client poses security risks; however, a new independent validator client, Firedancer, is expected to launch soon to diversify the network's client base.
