New USSD Charge Model: The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has mandated that starting June 3, 2025, USSD transaction charges will be deducted directly from users' mobile airtime instead of their bank accounts, with a fee of N6.98 per session.
Debt Resolution and Compliance: This directive follows a significant USSD debt issue between banks and mobile operators, prompting regulatory measures to ensure compliance and prevent service disconnections, with banks required to settle outstanding debts by specific deadlines.
