Arrest of Garantex Operator: Aleksej Besciokov, a Lithuanian national and operator of the sanctioned Russian cryptocurrency exchange Garantex, was arrested in India while on vacation. His arrest follows a coalition of international law enforcement seizing Garantex's domains and freezing nearly $28 million in crypto linked to the exchange.
Charges and Criminal Activities: Besciokov and another operator have been charged with money laundering conspiracy for allegedly facilitating money laundering for criminal organizations, including North Korea’s Lazarus Group, and playing a significant role in sanctions evasion for Russian oligarchs.
