Larry Harmon's Sentencing: Larry Harmon has been sentenced to three years in prison for laundering over $300 million in Bitcoin through his darknet service, Helix, which obscured cryptocurrency transactions for criminals from 2014 to 2017. He also faces a forfeiture of $311 million and had previously been fined $60 million for anti-money laundering violations.
Impact on Criminal Networks: Harmon's cooperation with authorities led to other prosecutions and is expected to deter similar illicit operations; however, the case also revealed that his brother Gary used stolen credentials to access seized Bitcoin, resulting in a four-year prison sentence for him.
